Are we there yet?
How many times have you been asked that question on your way to your family vacation? TOO many you probably think! Do the kids want to do one thing while you want to do something entirely different? Is your family vacation a true example of the generation gap? Are you always on the edge trying to keep track of where the kids are?
There is a solution!
Take your family on a cruise. There are plenty of activities to keep both parents and kids busy, either individually or together, on land or on the sea. Just the right balance of time with your children and time for yourself. Together you can play ping pong, pool games, basketball and tour ashore in a variety of ports of call. Individually you can enjoy a massage, work up a sweat in a fitness class, play bingo or bridge, win big in black jack, roulette or at the slots, or dance the night away. Meanwhile, the kids are having ring toss tournaments, playing human bingo, on a scavenger hunt, enjoying ice cream treats, making balloon sculptures, watching a magic show or competing in a sand castle building contest. Everything that's happening for them will be spelled out on their own daily activity sheet.
The kids will have a ball!
Each cruise line offers their own version of a supervised children's program. Whether the program has a fancy name like Adventure Ocean, Camp Carnival or Kids, Tweens & Teens, the concept is the same - provide fun and excitement for kids in a safe environment with trained youth counsellors. Ages accepted into the programs vary by ship; some as young as age 3, others starting at age 5 up to 17 years old. Kids' programs are available year-round on some ships, only during holidays and summer vacations on others. Program hours vary by ship, but also by days at sea and days in port. Normally, programs start at about 9 am and continue till about 10 pm. Group baby-sitting by the youth counselors and in cabin baby-sitting is available later in the evenings for a nominal fee.
